MLM . is it good or bad;Does it work, if yes how?

Recommended Posts

I live in Bombay, India. I attended a MLM ( Multi - Level Marketing ) [also called as Network Marketing] Seminar.

There was the Usual Euphoria and Lots and lots of Success Stories , you know from Rags-To-Riches stories. They also were very believable. The parade of them was very calculated and good . The complete Seminar was targetted towards hard-working but poor-by-pocket people with 3 hours dosage of emotional blackmail through Video Movie presentation.

I wasnt into the euphoria at all, it almost turned me off from all the concept .But i persisted and waited to know more. All i wanted to know was, what product are they marketing and what were the final benifits from taking the packages . Cause i think , If there are "Factual" benifits which can be put on the paper , it is more easy to introduce the company to a good person (who i know) where the person can think and listen positively without branding me cuckoo.

I know this MLM thing is quite old in western countires, especially in America.

Some things i wanna know is,

1) Do they work there ?

2) Do people you know make money while doing MLM?

3) Is there anybody here on Neowin doing MLM ?

4) Can you Explain how does MLM work in your place?

I know the strategies and products will never match while comparing Western MLM companies and Asian MLM companies but atleast the basic model(also called winning formula) should remain same.

All thoughtfull and kind words are greatly appreciated.

MLM, Pyramid schemes, Network Marketing, Spam:

All just different names for get rich quick schemes that usually don't work.

One or two might get some big returns but the majority get screwed.

If you're the kind of person that gets involved in these type of schemes

looking to get rich fast, then you are a potential spammer type.

Not good. BOO.

MLM is not a good thing to get into. If you are the car salesmen type, and work at it 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, yes, you might see a good return, but this is with anything. If you start your own buisiness and are smart about it, and work hard, you will make money.

If you want my opinion, these get rich quick schemes are all BS. You are making money for other people up the ladder (The person who signed you up makes money off of what you do, and the person that signed him up makes money on everyone he signed up, ETC.), and not usually for yourself.

It?s like quixtar. I got pulled into that for a short period time. When I was approached about it by a co-worker. He told me very little about what it was, but made it seem like it was so great. I even had a lunch meeting when he explained it for 30 minutes. I still didn?t know what the hell it was or what we sold or what I would do.

I went to this meeting for it and got all excited from the success stories. I tried it and lost interest fast when I started realizing the meeting and people seemed like a colt.

Stay away unless you want to be ?one of them?

You can make money though, but only a few do
