Remote
I have a heave beard (well I would if i didnt shave) and shave every day. I used to use the mach 3 because it was the best that worked for me (including electric). Well today I needed new blades and I saw this Schick razor with 4 blades. I had tried the one with 3 before and it sucked. Anyway. I just used it and i must say its the best razor on the market. New blade in all I got a clean and close shave with no bleeding (I always do breaking in a new blade). Well, if your like me and have to shave every day I would check it out. Not trying to advertise since I dont own schick. But it would be nice if i did, id be loaded and have no time to post on this silly forum (lol, jk) okay im done rambling.. Hrmm. maybe i need to give it more then one shave. I can def see how it can get clogged, but not if you clean it right after you shave.

My dad uses junk razors and is fine. If i use them, I get a sink full of blood. Its hard to find a razor that works best for your face.
giga Veteran Posted January 15, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 15, 2004 dreamz: They have 4 blades. I love my Mach3, and I dont shave everyday so I guess it's good for me. And I clean it after every shave. By the way, does anyone know the difference between the Mach3 turbo and regular? My dad has the regualr and I have turbo and I dont see much difference. SimGuy
Tried the Quattro and didn't like it. Ended up cutting my face in a few places, where my old Mach 3 (original, not Turbo) worked fine. For Christmas I got the new Braun Flex XP II 5790 self-cleaning electric shaver. Hands down beats the Mach 3, and I've used a Mach 3 for the past 2 years every other day. Damned nice shave off this Braun unit, and I'm damned picky about the quality of my shave. http://www.braun.com/na/products/shavinggr...ing/flexxp.html

I have tried countless electric shavers (including one of the new braun self cleaning, not the same model you show). Frank
I use the Mach 3 with the turbo blades (I don't see any difference between turbo and regular, but it is supposed to have extra gel in the pad). I am happy with it. I have been using it for 4 years I think. I saw the commercial for the Quattro today and I was almost tempted to go buy one to try it. SimGuy
Really?Do you have a heavy beard though. I have tried countless electric shavers (including one of the new braun self cleaning, not the same model you show). I would love to find a close cutting electric that works on my face Heavy? It's not light (peachfuzzy), it gets fairly coarse if I let it go for 2 days (and itchy as hell too). :) Mach 3 does a great job on the down stroke (starting at sideburns and moving down to chin). Where it falls apart for me is on the upstroke from my throat to my chin. I really prefer to have a 100% beard-free neck and I go to great lengths to get rid of this. Usually, I shave "with the grain" down the sides of my face and then from my chin to my throat. However, after that's done, I can't stand the abrasiveness that I can feel when I run my hand against the grain of my face (up the chin & throat), so I bust out the Mach 3 and shave "against the grain" until I can't feel any more stubble. The Braun Flex XP II System 5790 does this all for me in 1-2 passes and leaves both my face and throat womanly soft (LOL!). It shaves so close that the first time I used it I accidently cut the head off a developing pimple and didn't feel any pain at all. I've used electric shavers before too (Phillips Philishave, anything with the 3 rotating disc blades) and they don't work at all for me. This is the first electric shaver that beats my trusty Mach 3 and I'm thoroughly impressed.

IndianPimp99
I remember seeing a comic kinda like "The Far Side" but not...the more I think about it, it was probably the Sequitor or Bizarro, but it basically showed this guy with a giant razor with like 23 blades shaving his face, and his friend says to him something like "Hey, that other company just came out with one with 24" and the first guy says "Dammit". Anyways, just thought it was funny because if this keeps going, Gillette will come out with a Mach4 sometime and it'll be better than the Schick since they seem to make better blades. (Personal opinion, not known as a fact). I just wonder how far they'll go.

mattmatik
Yeah, I agree with the Quattro getting clogged easily. I usually let my facial hair grow 3-4 days then shave. What sucks is even if you have a high-powered faucet, the stupid backing of the blade cartridge doesn't allow for hardly any depositing of hair. So, I basically have to take the blade off to clean it. This only ever happened to me with a Mach 3 if I had about a week's growth. I'm thinking of just investing in a high quality electric and using a Mach 3 for the times when I want a little growth. Plus, blades seem to irritate my skin if I shave every single day. Someone told me (someone on Neowin, actually) that using an electric shaver requires you to shave everyday, as opposed to a manual one where you can skip a day and it won't matter. Is this true? Keldyn
I despise shaving. I have such a heavy beard too so I shave every second day or so. Most shaving creams don't agree with my skin so I often break out in a rash. :( I'm thinking of going electric.
