idkfa
I've often seen the word anyhow spelt anywho. I think I've only seen it spelt this way by people from the US or Candada but obviously I can't be sure. The number of times I've seen it I doubt it's a spelling mistake, and it really makes no sense to me at all as how and who are completely different words...so can anyone explain when people use it and why they use it instead of anyhow? btw: US ppl or Canadian ppl please don't think I'm accusing either of you of using the others word just in case 'anywho' is used only by one of you. You guys get Australian and New Zealand people (or their accents) mixed up :p

Hum
 Just another corruption of the English language brought on by comedy movies trying to be funny. I wonder more about T-H-E being spelled T-E-H by so many posters here. Dyslexics ? Oh well, anyhow ...

linked
I dunno, I'm from Michigan, up close to Canada, and some of the people from Michigan's northern half get really, really heavy accents. "Anywho" is how they pronounce "anyhow" just by default, sometimes. That's why I've used it- I like the way it sounds. As for "teh", I believe it originates from first-person shooters (Quake, Counterstrike) where people try to talk really fast so they didn't get killed. The best of the best would take a quick break to talk (Newbies could hardly keep up), and would often type too fast and hit "Teh". Some people (most likely imitation trend ######) decided "teh" was cool, and made you look good... so they coined it. And taht, chilrden, si teh storie of hwo u get teh "teh". idkfa
I'm guessing that 'teh' came about the same way 'pwned' came about. Spelling mistake that ppl found cool.

[ timko ]
I'm guessing that 'teh' came about the same way 'pwned' came about. Spelling mistake that ppl found cool. I read on some website about a year ago that the "teh" and "pwned" phenomenon all started from some people playing CounterStrike, cos they were trying to type too fast to finish a sentence in order to avoid being shot/stabbed etc... and so they ended up putting letters in the wrong places or the wrong letter completely by accident. :)

"teh" and "pwned" was around long before counter strike, as well as long before half life was even imagined.
poind
Any number of people in context (when they're saying "anyhow" or "anyway") have found it creative, "lightening", humorous, whatever to say "anyhoo". Usually a sign that they're trying to transition topic and are trying to make things as lighthearted as possible by even playing with pronunciation in a humorous way. If anything, I'd simply be surprised that people would type it as "anywho" rather than "anyhoo", though I suppose there's not a total written standard for it. It's probably most a spoken thing when someone's trying to be friendly. If anything, believe Homer Simpson may have popularized use a bit here and there.
