uniacid
our iMac at school has crashed again and we've been unsuccessful in trying to fix it, we have some data on the hd and I was wondering if I could hook up the iMac hd into a G4 desktop and boot from the G4 hd to get into the iMac's hd (iMac runs OS X, G4 runs OS 9.2) also I tried to hook it up via firewire but when I try to access the drive it says its not initialized and asks to format it which I don't want to do, so if anyone can help me on this so I could possibly try it to save some important data, thanks. Balder
Perhaps the iMac drive is formatted in a different file system that the os 9 drive, and that why the drive doesn't appear. You might need to find another osx mac that can read the drive.
uniacid
Well I only tried it with firewire, I'm wondering if I connected the HD physically to the G4 if it would work that way? and I can't find another OS X Mac b/c we only got 2 updated macs at my school, the rest are junk, and I don't want to take it to the apple store for repair b/c all they would do is format it
