Skate 4 hype builds as community manager’s tweet raises hopes for a release

Is Skate 4 finally happening?

 

EA community manager Daniel Lingen has fired up the hype train with a tweet he posted over the weekend that simply reads “#skate4”.

 

 

Skate 3 was released back in 2010 and players have been hankering for a follow up ever since. There are even Twitter and Instagram campaigns clamouring for EA to get on with it and announce Skate 4 already.

UPDATE 1st Feb 2017: It turns out Skate 4 was a half-pipe dream after all. EA has said it's not making it.

 

In a question and answer session with analysts last night, EA executives put the breaks on the Skate 4 hype train after a community chief set the internet alight with a single tweet.

 

"Much to the dismay of the many people that email me on a fairly regular basis, we are not presently making Skate 4," EA boss Andrew Wilson said, "and so that will not be in fiscal year 2018."

 

So there you have it. No Skate 4. Booooo!

Well let's hope that if they didn't have plans, that they are at least warmed up to the idea now, when they see what one little tweet / hashtag did.

I thought we would of gotten some kind of announcement when they did backwards compat and got the hype from that, not really sure why EA isn't into funding this yet.
