phantomAI
I think during installation I may have messed up in the display process. I know I put Nvidia drivers (Generic) for my GF4 card. I also installed Xserver. For some reason when it boots up it goes into console instead of KDE. I type startx and kde but I get an error: XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0" after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining. Looks like an input/output issue. So yeah how can I fix this problem... Not that much worries, I'm playing around on that MS Virtual PC trial. I'm using the distro Mandrake Linux 9.2... I still have Mandrake 9.1 working on the dual boot, but I wanted to play around with 9.2.
markwolfe Veteran Posted January 16, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 16, 2004 Sounds like X is not configed correctly... If you can use your Mandy 9.1 .config, it will help. If not, run (as root) xf86config That should allow you to fix the problem.
JadeWolf324
it could be because your using a VPC the drivers arent really for a GF4 they are for the fake out emulated hardware.

Nard
I would run through xf86config again. BTW if you're looking to launch kde the command is startkde
phantomAI
those didn't work, I had to reinstall and use S3 drivers instead of the generic Nvidia ones
