But that is a concern with our Computer engineers

It really shouldn't be. It goes without saying that Windows 7 isn't going to be supported forever, and with everything increasingly moving to be more mobile accessible, newer hardware is going to require a proper OS to support it. Windows 7 would never be supported on Surface, because it isn't built to properly support the hardware. Same with the new Intel processors.

But we buy our PC's and the current OS comes on it. We own a Windows 7 enterprise license and we apply a WIndows 7 image to the machine.   My old machine had a Vista sticker on it and we were running XP. Our desktop vendor is HP and Dell is our server vendor.  We don't have an enterprise license for our Surface Pro's so we are running Windows 10 Pro on those (which come with them). We have over 3000 pc's 100 SP and 300 servers with 200 SQL DB's. So our engineers are trying to move our standard from Windows 7 to 10 because of the MS Intel deal.

So do we, but we also have new machines, including Microsoft Surface Pros, that don't support Windows 7, so we've had to keep Windows 10 on them. That's the nature of the game.

If you want to keep Windows 7, HP should still be making business machines which still supports the aging OS.

Well currently i have an Elitedesk from 2014. The engineers want us to move yesterday. They told us in meeting to encourage our software vendors to make their apps certified for Windows 10.
