Xbox One Insider Preview build 15063.2006 is available in the Alpha ring - here's what's new

Microsoft released a new Xbox Insider Preview today for those in the Alpha ring, bringing the build number to 15063.2006. It's a preview of a new feature update, which is version 1704, indicating that it should be made available in April.

It replaces 15063.2001, which was the first Preview Alpha build to begin offering the new features. In fact, in the release notes, Microsoft didn't actually specify if there are any new front-facing features in today's build; instead, it just links to a page that says everything that's coming in 1704 and says that not all planned features are available in this build.

There are some fixes and known issues though, so here's what got fixed:

  • Settings
Fixed an issue which prevented some users from adding a new payment method.

  • Cortana
"Hey Cortana" should now function when searching for Store content.

  • Movies & TV
Fixed an issue which could sometimes cause Movies & TV to crash to Home immediately after launch.

  • Sign-In
Resolved an issue which prevented users from adding a new profile.

Here are the two known issues:

  • Settings - Display & sound
The Audio output page is under construction and some of the new settings are not yet functional. New support is planned for Dolby Atmos for home theater, Dolby Atmos for headphones, and more in upcoming builds. An announcement will be made when these new features are ready to try out; enabling these settings now will have no effect.

  • Wireless Display
The Wireless Display app fails to launch and immediately crashes to Home.

If you're not an Insider but you're hungry for new features, there's no need to worry. Microsoft released the Creators Update for the Xbox One and One S today, and that's available to everyone.

If you're in the Preview Beta ring, you should start seeing 1704 builds beginning in the middle of next week. Of course, you can always work your way up to Alpha by completing Quests and Surveys in the Insider Hub.
