gregor
Hello, after i noticed dets 23.12 on winupdate page and downloaded them a hell is happening to my computer. you know that after dl-ing from winupdate, the drivers autoinstalls. but then i got the error: "An error occurred during the installation of the device". i thought oh hell, not so important anyways. next time i turned on my computer i was on 800x600. i checked the device manager and see the red cross over my display card. then i tried: - roll back - uninstall - reinstall... and everytime i want to install any version of detonators (21.81, 23.11, 27.20), but none of them worked. everytime i get that error: "An error occurred during the installation of the device The system cannot find the file specified". i also tried to delete some things in register (regedit), i also tried to start windows in safe mode and there reinstall/uninstall/roll back.. but nothing worked. If anyone knows what is the problem, please tell me. I want new drivers on my computer. Thank you very much and best regards to all,
EvilEngine
Same thing happened to me this afternoon. I was forced to literally reinstall windows from scratch. As far I could tell there was nothing I could do otherwise. This is the first time something like this has ever happened to me. After a fresh reinstall I installed all my updates and the 23.12's directly from MS's website and everythings been flawless since. Maybe it has to do with how these drivers are installed that makes then incompatible with anything that was previously installed... I dont know. I even saved the .CAB file that went into my temp folder, then extracted it to a folder so I could edit the NV4_disp.inf file within it for the refresh rates. Even after installing the VGA drivers again they worked flawlessly. So maybe MS made some needed changes to these so they work better with XP. Kieran
similar problem 2 me. It was with the leaked 27.11 (think that right) drivers when they were first leaked. I installed them and they seemed fine but then things stoped working and uninstalling, rollign back or reinstalling older drivers did nothing to change the situation. I was firced to do a clean install of XP. I now have a policy of only using official drivers (not the ones of win update) - the drivers from the manufactures homepage for all my hardware and now my pc is on fire - it has never been faster! I really do recomend the latest drivers on the nvidea website! (even though people bitch about official drivers being slow they work great for me!) hope that wasnt too garbled (only had 3 hours sleep last night do a university assignment! arghhh) kieran

Shaahin
"An error occurred during the installation of the deviceThe system cannot find the file specified". Well, why don't you buy a Radeon 8500? :-)

thecat2000
I have had the same problems with Nvidia Drivers on XP though I use an older TNT 2 Pro Card. I am using Certified XP drivers 21.83, Which work fine anyway, I recently dowloaded the Nvidia Detonator XP drivers 23.11, and installed them to my suprise they arn't certified. Well after installing them, I found my Copy of XP was now throwing up BSOD errors. So I knew it was one of the new updates I installed. I want newer Drivers, but I can't it seem's use V.23.11 ? whole thing seems odd to me. I even considered whether the Card is faulty.. But Just don't know as it is one of thoughs touch and go things that are usually hard to figure out !
