Legend Entertainment shut down?

Recommended Posts

Reported here and here

I'll quote the short article

Unreal II developer Legend Entertainment has been shut down by parent corporation Atari. There are no further details available. Despite that, Beyond Unreal is reporting that a final patch for the Unreal 2 XMP add-on is in the works and will be released, although there is no offical date yet.

Wow....despite the varied acceptance of Unreal 2 by the games industry, that's a massive blow to the Unreal Tech. Geez, and Unreal 2 was to be part of the next generation of games.... woah

What a bummer! Legend haven't created any really smashing titles (except maybe WoT, haven't played it myself though) - Unreal 2 was better than average but didn't really live up to the Unreal legacy (XMP's fantastic though). Still, I feel Legend is more valuable than, say, Raven, the king of half-arsed Q3A-based shooters. Oh well, R.I.P.
