Chode
i installed splinter cell a week ago and yesterday i formatted my computer but splinter cell was in another drive and I borrowed it to a friend . I try to intall patches and it says that it cannot retrieve installation folder. someone help me here? Uhhh...not sure if I am following you here...so I'll answer your question both ways that it appears to me OPTION 1 I can read your question as saying that you are trying to install patches, but first you need Splinter Cell installed. Format = everything on drive gone OPTION 2 (the more likely, I think  ) I also read it as you are talking about a second hard disk, which you lent to a friend, then formatted your primary drive. You HAVE TO REINSTALL THE GAME. Shouldn't be any trouble, considering that you have a "legal copy" :D
machima
I smell bull****. Just go to your friend and get the disks back, then re-install. Simple.
kiddingguy
I agree w/ the above statements. Just ask your copy of SplinterCell back and play the damn game, because its really great! Btw.... Chode, another 'drive' might also be another 'partition' so there has not to be a second HD in his system. Just details I know!
Flash
he's playing the game too so he needs the cds to play it, i guess ill just wait a few more weeks then :pinch: how is this bull? it's not like i want to reinstall every single game after i reformatted when i can still run it. The only reason why windows cannot location the splinter cell install folder is because of the key that points to the folder in the registry

Iain
Isnt the registration code on the box? He could just tell you that over the phone? If not, just take the game back, and stop being a ###### about it.
Flash
i'm in no rush to get it back since I already beat the game 2 times but i'm just trying hard mode because i'm bored most of the time. registration code? what are you talking about? I mean when you go to run and type regedit, you'll see what I mean
pringlex
Why does everyone immediately assume he's trying to use a pirate copy of the game? o_O All he's saying is that he installed the game on one hard drive, reformatted the drive with windows on it, therefore nuking out all his registry entries, including the ones for Splinter Cell. I guess that those registry keys have to be present in order for the game to load. Registry != serial number. Flash, PM or MSN me and I'll hook you up with the files you need. Well, if you want to get technical, if he lent the full copy to a friend to them to play, that is illegal  You purchase the game as a single licensed copy.
