Jelly2003
Just wondering is there a way to actually stop the X server without pressing "Alt + Ctrl + Backspace". I actually want it to completely stop and not restart. How do I do this? Thanks in advance. P.S. I'm using Fedora Core
Rathamon
kill the "X" process and kill any processes that are likely to respawn it "KDM , XDM" etc

Jelly2003
Thanks so much JadeWold324! That worked perfectly! Now one more question: The reason i needed to do that was so I could reinstall the NVIDIA drivers. The system seems to hang for a minute when X is started. (for example, the "NVIDIA" screen will sit there for 1 min before anything happens) I know its not the NVIDIA drivers doing it now, and it used to do that before I installed the NV drivers. Any ideas on what could be causing X to take take so long to start up???
JadeWolf324
i have used those drivers and they work good for me..what card are u using them with? i noticed it takes longer for it to load if u were conected to ethernet and the remove it (at least in MDK)...derno why...i guess its trying to setup servers while NV loads... Jelly2003
well I just installed Fedora, I'm getting a 120GB hard drive tomorrow so I'll re-install and see if it still does it. At first it worked fine, then I think it was after I played with either the display settings or the mouse settings. Perhaps I could fiddle with the mouse settings and see what happens. I have a MS Wireless desktop, the mouse never worked properly with MDK 9.2, and Fedora setup never detected it, but it seems to work when I select USB wireless intellimouse from the setup screen. Thanks for your help anyways, that "init" command will come in very handy in the future.
Jelly2003
It was the mouse, I changed the mouse from "Microsoft - Intellimouse optical (USB)" to "Generic - USB Wheel Mouse" and now it works fine.
