iPhone Scareware

Thought this was interesting.

Saw my first iOS scareware page today.  Was reading something via the google app, and this popped up:

20170510_185650000_iOS.thumb.png.e9aabf145519475a2506b864658f156e.png

The page crashed before the timer ran down to zero, I was driving at the time and was interested to see what it would do (bring up another page, nothing, cause my phone to spawn a blackhole which would shrink my car and everything around me into a singularity with infinite mass and infinite density), or just crash the google app...

This wasnt the 1st scareware page I have ever seen on my phone, but it was the 1st with a link to an app - I wonder how many people actually freak and click on it...

It's bs, I get those from facebook often, on mine it says 'Your Generic Android Phone has a virus and the battery is damaged' blah blah blah.

Guess that's one good thing about the Oukitel K10000, a lot of these crapscare writers don't know every phone out there

Funny, I got the same virus warning last week while I was picking up some blinker fluid at the auto store.

Oh I knew it was BS.  It was just the 1st one I had seen of that style.

What I am curious about is whether or not it is a real app on the Google Playstore, and if so, Im sure Google would like to know about their "marketing tactics"

Must be a new one, just now making its rounds.

Its frustrating to see them because I know so many people will fall for it.  Even after all of the discussions about malware, and safe browsing techniques, etc.  It seems common sense for us, but there are multitudes of people out there who will freak with this stuff.  Im sure its only a matter of time before I get an email, text,  with a screenshot and a quick comment like, "Hey, should I be worried about this ?"

The app exists, I have no idea what it does exactly, and the red flag for me was that it had to be left installed for 3 days

On a similar note, an attempt was made to hack my google, pinterest and facebook accounts this week (had to change the passwords), guess the dumbasses figured I used the same password, or had card details stored there (which I don't for that very reason lol)

I hope smartphones will soon be powerful enough where I can install addons for chrome.  Would like to run LastPass.

"You have an iPhone and it has a virus, so go to the Google Playstore and download this app."

That aside, it's your own fault for visiting those adult sites. :p

it takes 3 days to clean the "battery virus"? and it's only when it's 28.1% damaged? They really need to improve their app.

That whole page smelled of "Hello Sir/Madam, I am Price Akeem Nutambakawimbii of Nigeria, I have  $200 million USD and need your help, my friend"
