Issue with ATI 9600XT

Recommended Posts

A few days ago I bought my first ATI card, and being an avid nVidia user have never seen an issue with a card/OS. One and a while if playing a game it will lose focus and minimize to the desktop. Anyone know of this issue or how to correct it?

There seems to be a lot of problems with teh 9600. I have one which I can't get to work - I think because the recomended 300W PSU is not sufficient. Some people have problems with resolution and general screen problems.

It may also be the game itself.

its not the problem with the card, its the drivers

The Catalyst 3.6 drivers are the only ones that work on mine. Thats why I'm getting a 9800.

I know quite a few people with 9600XTs working fine, then i know quite a few people who have issues with their 9600XT cards..Sadly nobody has managed to fix their issues yet, it could be for any number of reasons, drivers, psu problems, even motherboard compatibility problems. Its rather odd that these occur with 9600series cards, as they arent quite as power hungry as the 9800series.

i have a 9600 Pro in a shuttleX computer. All is working fine.

I even got the one with the Heatsync, instead of a fan. (quieter) and

I have had no problems. I have overclocked it a few mhz, and it is

still working fine. Now, i did have an issue with Call of Duty, but the

quickly released new drivers and everything was fine.

Doh....sucks to be you.

I was going to get one of those, but they weren't yet here in Australia at the time... so I bought an Asus GeForce 4 Ti4800.

Getting a 9700Pro , havent heard about probs with that, so i'm glad, was a top-of-the-minute decision over a 9600pro..

Kinda rare to find people with the 9700pro's nowadays, they are either with the 9800 or 9600, hehe, guess I'll be the IN-BETWEEN man :).

Really happy as I currently have a gf4mx440 :p....biggggggggg improvement :).

i haven`t had any probs` with my 9600xt since i dl the 3.10 drivers. install was quick and easy. just made sure there were no nvidia drivers left. runs halo and call of duty great. my last card was a geforce 2 that crashed my system more times than i want to think about. trying to get my brother to buy one for his rig.

Well after a nice format and reinstall of everything my card seems to be running quite fine. The format was much needed also, don't be a lazy NortOn Ghost addict like me...

I've had it for a whole week now. No probs. I installed the newest Catalyst drivers and I've been playing some new games on it. No issues so far.

IMO, as a last ditch effort, try a fresh install. I remember this fixing a lot of driver issues, unfortunately its a lot of work. If you make a "Ghost" image, do it w/o the drivers and only the software you need installed. That *IS* a time saver.

did your format and reinstall windows.... nvida drivers when not properly removed (basicly that means a format) will screw up ati drivers, and vice versa

i had nvidia, and bought ati, and no drivers screwed up anything
