Project Scorpio is now officially 'Xbox One X'; coming in November, priced at $499

The day is finally here. At its E3 2017 press briefing today, Microsoft has officially revealed the "most powerful console ever", that was until recently, known by its code-name, "Project Scorpio". The company has now announced that its latest console will be called "Xbox One X", and will be available worldwide on November 7.

As Microsoft revealed at its E3 event last year, the Xbox One X is designed for hardcore gamers, with a focus on VR, "true 4K gaming", and cutting-edge performance. The console is powered by 6 teraflops of power and an octa-core processor. Moreover, it also supports Xbox One and backward compatible Xbox 360 games, offering a significant performance boost to all existing games, and bringing a substantial improvement in visual quality, without requiring developers to customize their games to take advantage of those enhancements.

As revealed previously, key specifications of the Xbox One X include eight custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3GHz - which are reportedly 31% faster than the ones in the Xbox One. Additionally, it packs 12GB of GDDR5 RAM, of which 9GB is dedicated to games so that they can run smoothly. The console also boasts a custom-designed GPU with 6 teraflops of power, a 1TB hard drive, HDMI 2.0, and a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray drive, similar to the one present in the Xbox One S.

Microsoft has stated that this is the smallest Xbox device that it has ever built, and is the first console to utilize a liquid cooled vapor chamber for maximum power and efficiency. Titles such as Forza Motorsport 7, which utilize Xbox One X' capabilities will be published under the "Xbox One X Enhanced" branding.

The Xbox One X will be available starting in November 7 with an accompanying price tag of $499.
