So he carved out “A HOLE” on his lawn with an arrow pointing at his neighbor’s house in Sequim, Wash. That landscaped insult is now going viral after it popped up on Google Earth. The property with the insulting piece of lawn art belongs to Brian Juel, one of several residents who once protested his neighbors’ brightly painted home. Around 2009 Cindy and Blaine Zechenelly constructed a large garage apartment and painted the whole property purple, sparking outrage in the town roughly 65 miles northwest of Seattle, the Peninsula Daily News reported at the time. It’s unclear when the insult of celestial proportions was mowed into the lawn. Images can sometimes be several years old. When reached for comment Thursday morning, Cindy Zechenelly said she was aware that the image was going viral, adding “I’d just as soon let it die.” She declined to discuss the incident further. Juel didn’t immediately return a call for comment, nor did Google. Neighbors complained nearly as soon as the Zechenelly’s house was repainted in 2009 that the purple color was distracting — referring to it as “Barney,” in honor of the fictitious purple dinosaur. At the time, neighbor Andi Taylor told the Peninsula Daily News that light reflecting off the building — with shades of lavender and violet, trimmed in white — was turning the white interior walls of her home purple. Other neighbors signed a petition seeking property tax relief from Washington’s Clallam County because the building towered over others in the area. Juel’s daughter, Brianna, was one of those who circulated the petition. Speaking with the Peninsula Daily News in April 2009, she referred to the structure as, “the purple people-eater.” Brian Juel, who has lived in the neighboring home since 1993, also told the newspaper eight years ago that the property “has become the focal point of the community.” Source
DocM Share Posted July 14, 2017 (edited) I don't see a problem with the colors, but....creative! And subtle. Our son in law would have erected a neon sign. 2 Share
