jerry
I decided to get an iBook in the last few week but now I've decided to hold out until the end of this week in anticipation of Mac's 20th Anniversary. I know people are expecting iMac/PowerBooks updates etc., but its just a week away so I dont mind waiting a bit more. I'll be getting the 12" iBook with Airport Extreme and 60GB HDD. I would be maxing out the RAM myself. However, I read on other Mac forums that Virtual PC is the worst Mac Solution ever ? I dont know the truth as I havent had a Mac to use VPC. Just for the record I havent used VPC for PC itself. I was thinking of buying Office X and VPC 6.1 after I get the iBook. I wanted VPC as I would be doing some light-weight coding/programming stuff in Windows environment. So, would it be suitable if I use VPC for this purpose ? Can I install softwares like Oracle etc., inside of VPC ? Thanks J
CdCViRus
oh, you can install software in VPC - but its not going to be blazingly fast, let's put it this way i fail to see why you'd want to get a mac just to use windows, and windows software just get a new pc, and you will get a better value for your dollar
jerry
I dont expect VPC to be fast. I would be satisfied with a PentiumII type performance from VPC since all I would be doing is light coding/programming stuff. Since all I require from Windows environment is light coding/programming, I dont think its good to spend more on the PC platform. If I can get a decent laptop of a better platform (Mac) I think the switch would be timely. Thanks for the suggestion though. :)
CdCViRus
you can do all your coding on the mac, and then "upload" your files to the VPC but again, it depends which language/compiler you want to code in/use.
