aristotle-dude
There was also a thread on how to setup folder actions in Panther for a drop folder to do the conversion for you IIRC. It did require some modifications to the script included with Panther.

dougkinzinger
My new G5 just came! SO new in fact it is still running the initial software update!!!!So, I get the box, crack it open. Then I thorw it up on my desk and pop the side panel off. WWWWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW! I am in the I.T. filed and this is the most impressive thing I've ever seen. So the first thing is add 1.5gb of ram(2gb total), an airport extreme card, and an extra 250gb hard drive. And just like I expected everything worked perfect on the first boot. I felt like I was 5 years old on christmas!!!! You're in the I. T. Filed, eh? Wild.

Max Veteran Posted January 21, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 21, 2004 Whoar, that screenshot makes me crave for a Mac. Does the 10.3.2 update come with all new Mac's? Does the same apply to iLife 04? (I'm in the UK, the product has shipped, so will Apple have iLife on the Mac's straight away when you buy it?) suntzu
actually the G5 shipped with 10.2.x but it had the panther upgrade media in the box already. it also did not come with iLife 04 either. My new powerbook came with 10.3.x preinstalled, also without iLife 04'.

(I'm in the UK, the product has shipped, so will Apple have iLife on the Mac's straight away when you buy it?) I can probably guess 10.3.2 will be on any new Mac as that came out a little while ago. I'm not so sure about iLife '04 though, if bought from a store. Though I will guarantee you iLife '04 bought from the Apple Store Online (especially if you customized it/BTO). Stunod7
I'll throw this out there for those thinking about getting a mac. If you shop online (not sure if this is valid in stores or over phone) and under "Interests" you click on education it will take you to the following page (here) and if you are going to a K-12 or almost any College/University you can get an educational discount. They have a little agreement which reads: ------------------------------------------------- Who is Eligible To Purchase The following education individuals are eligible to purchase through the Apple Store for Education individuals: Faculty or staff member of a public or private Higher Education Institution in the United States Student currently attending or accepted into a public or private Higher Education Institution in the United States Qualifying purchases per academic school year (July 1 - June 30): Power Mac, iMac, eMac, PowerBook, or iBook - One per year Printers - One per year Displays - Two per year Software - Two per year ------------------------------------------------- I don't know if this changes university by university... Last time I logged in I was able to get discounts on everything but apparently that's changed. Just so people know about it... I hate paying retail and I'll find ways around it. [edit] Looking at the prices... It's not much but hey - saving money is saving money [/edit]
XiXora
whats that windows flag icon for in your dock? virtual pc? also will it be a good move to move to a mac even though i like to program in c# ( .NET apps in general )?
aristotle-dude
I believe that windows flag is the official MS Terminal Server/Remote Desktop Application for OS X.
suntzu
actually that is the rdp client so i can connect to the windows servers in my office. No its not a good idea yet because virtual pc does not yet support the g5 processor (soon to be fixed iv'e heard). Other than that the integration with our windows and linux infrastructre has been seemless.
