+Zagadka Subscriber² Posted July 24, 2017 Subscriber² Share Posted July 24, 2017 I apologize if something exists I haven't seen, but I've looked several times The Windows 10 programs list is... horrid. Absolutely horrid. Can't even remove an app via context menu, or rename it, or move it, or really do anything. The only way I've seen is going into the system files themselves and manually removing files, and even that is a crapshoot (doesn't help that there are several places the icons are stored). The app list is completely clogged. Several of the apps were uninstalled months ago, but stay around. What I'm looking for is a program to manage those folders. I actually find use of the tiles in my setup, so I don't want to revert to the old Win95 Start Menu, but damn it is frustrating. The list is basically useless, I usually just type in the name and let Cortana sort the results. PsYcHoKiLLa
Have you tried manually going into the folder? https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/6463/stupid-geek-tricks-how-to-open-the-start-menu-folder-in-windows-7/ Are you running an insider preview? If so, please report this as a bug. If there's a problem with ownership of the files once you get in there, try using this reg hack: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1337430-start-menu-all-apps-manager-for-win10/#findComment-597971476 Share on other sites
+Zagadka Subscriber² Posted July 24, 2017 Author Subscriber² Share Posted July 24, 2017 Yea, I've done the directly edit the folders thing, but it is a crap shoot and very annoying to do regularly. Like I said, some of the links are in the user folder, some in the system folder... Digging through AppData should not be the best way to do simple things. I have no idea why MS abandoned managing the shortcuts. Huge step back. Just running the current release version on this PC.
