thebigj
Just had an email from Gameplay.com telling me that the release date for Half Life 2 has been changed to Sep 24 2004Thats 248 days until release!!! I guess they must be completly re-making that game! Shame nVidia got so upset about their performance, that they forced a re-work of the GFX Engine to make nVidia GPU's perform better. source:W2S

mrmumbles
be good for sum1 to eventually nail down a date (i know that an impossibility with Valve) but there are so many dates bounding around now its kinda gonna p*** every1 off.

semifamous
You know what bugs me? When a game comes out and has a patch within weeks, then people complain about how they should have waited until the game was done to release it. When a game gets delayed, everyone wants it yesterday. Just shut up already. It's a GAME. A delay is NOT going to affect the gameplay in any way. It's still going to be the same game, you just have to wait longer to play it.

THATS THE POINT, the gameplay will not change if they delay it, if so release it soon, and just give us patches, i have one thing to say if this is true, then someones gonna be very mad (Ati)

Bant Veteran Posted January 20, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 20, 2004 there has only been 1 ****ing delay. the original release in september. they never gave any dates after that, so quit yer bitching. you have to wait longer for a better game, if you cant wait, dont, but cry to your pillow about it, because we dont effin care. Dark Warhawk
The problem is that Valve has a history with this sort of thing. Team fortress 2 was delayed to no end and was never released. Counter Strike: CZ has been delayed what 3 years? So much so I really don?t think anyone really cares anymore and now Half-Life 2 looks like its going to be delayed a year at least. People are nervous that this thing might never get released because they know it might be one of the best games of all time and considering the history here I think they should be. Bant Veteran Posted January 20, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 20, 2004 its not fair to bring tf2 into this. tf2 went dark the minute valve started working on hl2. do the math. they couldnt exactly say WHY they stopped working on it... because they didnt want anybody to know about hl2, or that they would be using the hl2 engine. hl2 has been their top priority for a long time, but a delay doesnt mean vaporware. valve came through with hl, they will come through with hl2. cs:cz was never a high priority, if it were, it would have been done in house. Sedriss
Ehhhhh..... who cares....... screw the game now.... most of everyone will buy it.... but its not like im looking for to it now..... when i see it on the shelf ill be excited...
+virtorio MVC Posted January 20, 2004 MVC Share Posted January 20, 2004 its just a game, no need to get so excited.
leedogg
The B.S. is strong with valve. They seem to have a very sloppy and unproffesional operation going on any way you cut it. I dont care what industry it is, but constantly bumping things off and coming up with excuses and putting yourself in compromising situations with affiliates, does not, a successful venture, make. They need to get their act together. I'm not even a hl fan and I can see that this stuff is getting ridiculous. It is always better to set reasonable deadlines and exceed expectations than to overpromise and get a lot of people upset.
Laughing-Man
Eh gads. Were you people even born when the original Half-Life was coming out? It was delayed multiple times so it is no suprise that HL2 is delayed. To make good things takes time. Play Doom 3 in the meantime.
ForkliftDude
delay? what delay? care to explain that one then? We selected Limelight Networks as one of our first hosting partners because they have a proven ability to deliver heavy media files quickly, inexpensively and with guaranteed reliability," said Gabe Newell, founder of Valve. "With our current games generating more Internet usage each month than Italy's total online traffic, we know we have demanding customers. And, as we approach the release of Half-Life 2, we are anticipating increased usage. Our hosting partnership with Limelight Networks will be a tremendous step toward helping us provide high quality service during the heavy peak loads generated by these avid gamers." http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040113/latu045_1.html let me quote the date (actually it's also in the url): Tuesday January 13, 8:04 am ET
