z1ppeh
hehe, just reading this post makes me laugh... stop bitching eh? have any of you ever had a deadline and failed to meet it? probably.. so stfu. its not exactly an easy thing to do making a game otherwise most of us would be doing it, and oh so be it if some of you think you are so 'exquisite' at making games, you go create the new hl2. but until then, this is a game in development. why do people bitch about it? tut tut tut... go back to original hl, or cs. get better at those games before you start moaning. for all to know, half of you guys are prolly llama basts who are gonna use godmode or some type of cheats, which basicaly ruin the game anyway! just stop with the boring *its all valves fault/ they owe customers a vid card/ blah blah blah crap.* it... is... a... game... and in the end, it will be here. have some patience
matt74441
And some did buy the cards just for HL2, the coupon inside that is :p Spending $500 for a game doesn't sound right. But if the game is delayed until September, that gives me plenty of time to buy a 9800, or its successor.
futb0l
well - gamespot says it's still april... http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/halflife...tml?tag=mp_2to9
kylejn
this sucks i just got a 9600xt and by the time the game comes out it will be obsolete. ill just stare at teh coupon for 9 months. I'm in the exact same boat. I got a 9600XT pretty much for the sole purpose of HL2, and now that's it's delayed till Sept. (supposedly), I won't even get to play it at all. You see, I'm going off to college at the end of August, and I'm leaving my desktop behind in favor for a laptop. Laptops and games don't mix. This had better be false; otherwise, I'm gonna be ****ed beyond all belief. And all you people saying, "Well, it's better that they release it when it's finished rather than ahead of time" need to see things from my point of view. It was supposed to come out in Sept. 2003. Then it got delayed. One delay I can handle. 7 months (Sept. 2003 - Apr. 2004) should be PLENTY of time to fix what appeared to be a largely completed product. And now they're feeding us this BS that they need another 5 months after THAT? Valve must just be sitting around doing jack squat. I fail to see how something could take that long.

I remember reading that the average gamer is between ages 12 and 21. What this amounts to is (very rough figures) that for every year the game is delayed they lose a ninth of the people waiting for it (and in theory also gain another ninth). nuka_t
also the people waiting for it lose a 15th of their life so far. can you imagine the hardcore hl2 lovers wasting a 15th of their lives on messge boards and fan sites waiting for a game to be released? its sad that people would do that and sad that people would let them. Chode
but it wont be like halo, its nearly finished. halo had port problems and performance problems. this is just buggy. And I do believe that Halo's performance issues are all within the DX9 lighting engine which was implemented by Gearbox.... wish it had of been a vanilla console port with higher resolutions and texture quality, coz that woulda been better than what we received. Oh yeah, and screw Valve :p

SimplyPotatoes
omg!!! who cares when its going to come out, blah i just hope its a very fun game.... i do dislike how developers are giving dates though...and not sticking to them, perhaps they might want to change release dates to beta marks, like the fiasco last year, they could have said they were almost done with the current stage of developement and or something like that...saying a game will come out on a certain date is awful...i always thought it should have been a range, then when the company is definatly sure they can give an exact date.
