Duckie
This is my latest attempt, and even I dont have it all exact. Try and see if you can do better... Specs: Finder bar - ObjectBar - My own theme Icons - Converted from Real Mac OSX icons to windows format using IconShop 1.13 and Microangelo 5.5 (got the icons from X-Icons) Cursors - Real MacOS converted using ResEdit and Microangelo 5.5 Wallpaper - Converted from actual Mac OSX Media Player - QuintessentialCD - Tweaked to read iTunes and using iTunes skin Browser - AquaBrowser - from AquaSoft.com, tweaked. Clock - CandyClock with Aqua Skin Dock - My own theme using an old distro of VDE Items not seen - Real Mac OSX sounds and Visual effects using WindowFX to get transparent menus and shadows So, let's see what you people can do...I've seen some decent attempts, but most of them are WAY off base...and feel free to critique mine. I run MacOS, Suse Linux, and Windows...and I copy all of them, Big deal. MxxCon said: pathetic. why the bloody hell do you want to make pc look like mac?! So, I responded: Well, because I think Apple came up with a great looking OS. Also, I have made original skins. Just look for me @ Skinz.org. I've been a contributor for years. napes22 said: how about you just buy a friggen mac!! So, I responded: I own 3...is that good enough for you. freeza said: enough with the mac **** already damn. So, I responded: Who forced you to read and study this thread? Not me...go complain to your momma. MxxCon said: don't get all hot and horny, he asked for feedback, i provided it. So, I responded: I asked for critique of my desktop modifications, not your personal opinion on what I should or shouldn't do. To all of you with nothing better to do than flame... I asked others to join me in posting pics of their desktops that are customized to look like MacOS, I didn't aske for your nasty comments or personal opinions on what's right. So, you don't like Mac desktop mod's...big deal...then stay out of the thread...*plonk* me if you will, I don't care. This was my first post to this site. And YES, I HAD seen other threads about MacOS themes and such, but they were all such minimal attempts. Very little was done to truely emulate the environment. They figured a few Icon Library's and desktop wallpapers were all you needed. So, in a way, I can understand your frustration...your sick to bloody death of 'Mac this' and 'Mac that'. That is why I came here...to prove to some of these knuckle-heads that they can do so much better. So...you say I'm wasting my time, that I should focus my energy on something else, and that I should do something original. The truth is, your wasting YOUR time as well...I mean, did you really have to type all of that, or couldnt you have just ignored the thread if it bothered you that much. And what about all that energy you wasted? Do you feel like big shots now? All you elitists are just skinners...not rocket scientists...get over yourselves. And doing something original? HA!! I've been skinning for years, and I've seen so much plagorism(sp?) it's pathetic... Anyway, I've wasted enough time...now, who wants to post something that MATTERS and regards ONLY the original post inquiry. Duckie

Y/C
How many computers do you have mate? Originally posted by the_real_duckie http://www.emaculation.com/screenshots/macosxonxp.jpg Anyway, d'you know what's pathetic to me? Having an Intel Pentium processor with 96MB RAM forcing it to run XP with some other 3rd parties... God... How much time did you spend for all this... Then you say that we are wasting our times??? Something else that sounds me pathetic is when someone owns 3 macs and wants his PCs to emulate Mac too... God, again!!! Anyway, I respect your time in making all these (well it's your time after all), but I would like to tell you that these are screenshots that I don't dig... I think that you should spend more time in detail and not in finding aqua skins to skin your calculator. :) As you said before, you're a skinner and I believe that you love the detail on your windows appearance... So, try and modify firstly some skins like the objectbar (which in my personal opinion looks like crap)... Cheers mate, and be nice like all of us... :)
jolhof
the_real_duckie, i like your desktop no matter what anyone says. It's your computer, so it should be your desktop the way you want it. Duckie
Skinning the Windows environment to look like Macintosh goes back a long way. The reason most people began to emulate the Macintosh appearance on their PC's was ease of use. It was simply easier for them to manuever around. Mac Users are used to the Finder Bar, the Finder windows, The placement of close and minimize buttons, and some of the dialogs. By skinning a Win32 box to look like MacOS, they found it easier to work and it's certainly alot less ugly then the standard Windows grey appearance. As for how many computers I own...3 Macs, and 4 PC's. Am I wasting my time? No, I have a Tech job that keeps me busy, a girlfreind that keeps me busy, and an Acting career that keeps me busy...I skin in my free time, as a hobby. To the gentlemen asking about the clock skin... http://pcdesktops.emuunlim.com/ has that skin and many more. Duckie
jolhof
the_real_duckie, Sounds like I'm in good company then. I own 3 pc's and 2 mac's and have a full time job at a theater. Actor myself, amongst other things and my free time is spend playing around trying to skin, enhance, improve, either platform's OS. It's just for fun. Thanks for the link on the skin. Y/C
It's really nice to see that everyone has occupations! I'm 24 years old and work for a famous health magazine here in my country, have a girlfriend for about 3,5 years and I study accountancy in a University... I have only (well I don't need more) 2 PCs and I'm planning to buy a mac or a laptop (this is something that I need) soon... But it's really nicer to see that all of us here have some common things like customising our windows environment... So I believe that you should modify somehow the look of your objectbar in order for your desktop to look more grand... I'm a "Mac OSX GUI" lover too, but I don't put Aqua things on my desktop which turn it, in my opinion, uglier... Besides, I believe that we will NEVER manage to turn our WinXP GUI into Mac OSX GUI... It's impossible... Here are some screenshots of my desktop I had before my current which uses the brilliant "Static" by Xcert. The one has the "AquaXP" style by Disciple and the other uses the "Sosumi" style by arhra which is a replacement of the default OSX (and OS9 I think) GUI... Not enough "Aqua apps" you may say? Well, I don't need more, cause I think it will be an ugly exaggeration... It's important that they look "Aqua" enough for me. :) AquaXP Desktop Sosumi Desktop

Guest deadzombie
I've been using a hybrid Windows/ OSX interface for over a year now. Seems to be something a member of AquaSoft might do... Screenshot A few things of interest; Sosumi msstyles theme ( a theme originally for OSX, converted for us PC peeps) Windowshading (courtesy of Freeshade ) 128x128 32 bit alpha blended OSX icons 32bit 64x64 ->128x128 dock icons (desktopX) the new AquaSoft logo (had to slip that in) This isn't OSX 'out of the box', but it does include some of it's nicer features. I would like to see more people skinning 'OSX in use' instead of out of the box. Go to ResExcellence and you won't find a single 'out of box' desktop - it's all about the power and beauty of their OS.
Frogboy Administrators Posted February 7, 2002 Administrators Share Posted February 7, 2002 How did you get those black system tray icons?
Duckie
If it was me you were asking, the icons are on my server... All I did was create a new toolbar, add some shortcuts to volume, nethood, etc..., the icons are from a Quicktime file I got off of Apple.com...I exported the images, copied and pasted the images i wanted in to microangelo 5.5 and Voila!, an OSX appearnace for the taskbar. The great thing is that the shortcuts work faster than the usual way... Duckie
