A Message for all you PRO Skinners out there : iTunes & OSX Skin F

Recommended Posts

Hi have seen lots of screenshots of what can be done in WinXP to make it look like a Mac. Since I am a total BEGINER I have a couple of questions, If any body would be kind enough to answer them for me please ?

1) I see that a lot of XP desktops have "iTunes" running, Is this the "real" iTunes or an other media player skinned. Either way, How is this done and if it is a prog/skin is there a url for the files?

2) I have seen a hell of a lot of realy excelent OSX skins. These seem to look very profesional and way out of my league. I also noticed that a number of different programs are used to achive the over look, my final question is, would it be possibe for somebody to put together either a ZIP or EXE file withh all the necessary files and skins in there, so it would be just a case of installing 1 file as it where. I know this sounds like a cop out, but I really would NOT be able to produce skins of this quality myself, even with the programs to do it.

If any body can help, or even compete to put togeather a "Perfect" OSX skin "Package" I and no doubt many others would be extremly gratefull

Thank you very much for your help, and lets hope a couple of you decide to take me up on this offer

The iTunes you see running is a Skin for QuintessentialCD...it is hard to find, 'cause noone wants to share it apparently, but I found a link somewhere on these boards, I just forgot where.

As for an OSX theme, I'd need to know what OS u r running?

For WinXP, install StyleXP and then goto http://www.aqua-soft.org/ and get the AquaBaseFF MSSTYLE. it's the best out there.

For Win98 machines, you'd need Window Blinds and there are a virtuall @$$load of themes out there for that.

I recommend XP tho...WindowBlinds can take too many system resources on some older machines making it run sloooow. Also, WindowBlinds is only one of about 10 different programs you'd need to install to get the full effect...and that can get expensive. Plus, their 'demo' apps limit the ability to use skins to their full potential.

To get the icons, you should go to www.urbanslurp.com. They recieved the rights to convert actual OSX icons to Windows format.

As for the rest, sounds, cursors, and more, it's all out there...you just gotta fins what YOU want.

Hope this helps...
