VazaGothic
well, cause my T3 maxes out at 900KBps and i was downlaoding at "1500KBps" You know, not all of us use T3 - at the university I do use OC12, which has max transfer of is 655MBit/s and quite often I get REAL transfers about 2MBytes/s (well, the rest of the internet is slow :)

AndyD
So got it to run a lot better at medium settings. I don't know...I kinda like it :) Maybe you guys are playing it on easy settings because it didn't feel like the AI was idiotic. I actually had a lot of fun just driving around the gun boat and wreacking a little havoc. My only complaint would be that the guys can tell where you are regardless if you're behind bushes etc. after they spot you.
thecowgoesmoo207
it's ok, but the only thing really unique about it is that its on a tropical island. other than that, i think it's a pretty standard fps with slightly improved graphics. DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 23, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 23, 2004 FPS's happen to be my favorite game type to play, so with that being said i really liked this game. it was your standard good classic FPS, with just a little bit more than usual... i thought it was cool just how you could take all aspects of the island on different ways, that fact itself is real sweet right there... i was also impressed that although they were still not the most bright AI i have encountered, they are defintely one of the better AI in a FPS for sure and very close to the best overall...then towards the end of the demo when you get inside the commanders post, the first light i saw i shot at it, and the way it swung around aned cast light super realistically really proved to me the pyshics are no joke. im really looking forward to this game... and i give ubisoft props for providing this demo because with the insane amount of "next gen" FPS's hitting the shelves starting right around March, they were smart enough to release the demo of far cry and just give the people playable proof instead of screenshots, etc. which was a smart marketing move as well ... in a way i wish i did not play this demo as i have no good new FPS's to play right now and im ready for some far cry.... qoa
i like it so fari'm getting about 40fps with 1280x1024 with 2xAA 8xAF and everything else set to the highest level which isn't bad, and this just proves how bad halo is, trying to run halo on the same setings and you get about 7fps. and far cry looks allot better Uh maybe that's why Halo gives a warning that you can't use the video card settings to overide the antialiasing? AndyD
To those who dislike the demo, would you mind explaining your reasons?? I had more fun playing this demo than the entire time I spent playing Call of Duty. I love the draw distance. Even on my 4400 it was impressive. Towards the end of the demo, I could see clearly where the missles were being shot from and other boats coming to shore, which of course I tried to snipe. Then with the two copters flying in and being able to shot out the gunners and the men as the came off the copter was thrilling. God knows what I'm missing by running the game with a 4400 but at this point I'm very impressed with what the developers have been able to pull off. nekrosoft13
Uh maybe that's why Halo gives a warning that you can't use the video card settings to overide the antialiasing? or maybe its just a ****ty game that was ported over to pc by some morons with IQ of a chimp
jackwanders
I downloaded it, installed it, tried to play it.... it didn't exactly freeze up on me...but it was taking forever to render the first frame of the game, even w/ lower quality options. and my system is still less than a year old. 2.4B P4, Radeon 8500DV, 512MB PC2100, etc etc... Don't know what was going on...

Mike Frett
Seems to me all this game has going for it is the graphics, And that's not a good enough reason to buy it for me.

ThisSiteHasLostItsCharm
anyone found this: editor.tip Crytek Editor tips of the day should be here. You can press Alt+F4 to Close Editor. Do you know that you can restart Editor by pressing Reset button on your PC. Press Ctrl-G or F12 to go into the Game mode, ESC to return to Editing mode. Not every tip you read here is absolute true. Quickly rebuild a level (without regenerating the ground texture) by pressing Ctrl-E. Hold down the third mouse button and drag to move the camera up and down. ANova
I don't care for the game at all. It's rather boring and while the graphics are nice by todays standards they don't compare to either Doom 3 or HL2. It's also a resource hog and has fairly long load times. lunamonkey
Little bug in far cry : If you carry on round the island to the left and you can see some guys near a broken boat and a jeep. I sniped the guys meading the boat, and the other run towards me. One of the guys was running in the sea and I sniped him in the head, then he flew about 50 metres out to sea. It was like he'd been catapulted. I couldn't do it again.
