All this "Use a real Distro" is BS!

What if some people only want a "click n go" OS but also do not wish to use Microsoft, surely then this is a good solution for them? :)

I have to agree with you there.

They are aiming for a different market. One that is convinced you have to pay for software. One that is willing to pay for the convenience of unlimited downloads of fully tested software located in one spot.

This software is not for the mes of the world. It is for my mom and dad, for my 9 year old kid. For my wife (who actually uses my Linux box, but feels more comfortable on her XP).

Infighting amongst the different flavors of Linux does not advance our OS. Linux is about choice and the freedom to code to serve a market (even if it is a niche market). For example, how many basic test editors are there in Linux? Console and GUI. I don't know if anyone can count them all! The differences? Each one serves its niche, and does so very well.

Gentoo, Slack, Deb, Mandy, SUSE, RH, Turbolinux, Xandros, Lindows. They all serve their market.

And that is what makes Linux the great thing it is.

[EDIT: It is very tough to get into the queue properly to download... Starts at about 140, drops down to the 30's or so, and terminates.... Must be flooded!]

i keep gettings errors... wtf lindows totally sucks

Hmmm, yes.

Lindows OS must be bad because everyone is trying to get a free copy and is flooding the file server.

Sounds like a reasonable conclusion to me! :pinch:

The servers ARE very busy.

Just make sure you sign up and you can go back anytime and collect the download when the servers have cooled down.

Dougie.

FWIW, this version was posted today in one of the Linux warez newsgroups (I'm not saying exactly where, due to the policies of Neowin, but since Lindows.com was offering it for free download, it really wouldn't be warez anyway).
