drosje
Can someone take a screenshot of the boot screen in 10.3? I have always wondered what it looks like. Thanks!
NeoMayhem
It looks like this, but full screen ;) It is shown at whatever res your screen is, not 640x480 like windows... Once that screen is done, it shows a progress bar, and then the login screen or desktop...

Max Veteran Posted January 22, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 22, 2004 I wonder how it can load the drivers up so quickly? Which reminds me, how can you turn off that little sound that it makes when the Mac boots up? (As like everybody knows, I haven't got a Mac yet. I use my school's ones. The sound will be slightly annoying when I boot it up at 3 in the morning and it wakes the house up)
Starman
You really shouldn't turn the boot chime off. The boot sound not only tells you that you've booted the machine properly, but it also tells you if there's a problem at boot time. Mike

SFNE Freak
I don't see any reason to shut your Mac down every night. Put it to sleep.
Southern Patriot
I don't see any reason to shut your Mac down every night. Put it to sleep. Exactly what I was about to say... You mean people actually SHUT DOWN their Macs???? The only time I shut mine down is to swap out my burner for my DVD drive (for some reason, hot swapping them doesn't work, even though it should). At 100% my iBook lasts about 2-3 weeks, so you might get a day or 2 out of 5 minutes... Somehow I doubt that. Well if done right, they would run very well. We will see, I think windows and almost all related products suck so I dont care either way...

MajorSham
The viruses won't be fully functional, though. That's true. After all, with Mac viruses infecting a Mac, there's not enough room for a Mac virus and a PC virus to coexist. http://www.symantec.com/nav/nav_mac/
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted January 23, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 23, 2004 At last count, I think there were 37 mac viruses. And I think the number affecting OSX were not even in the double digits. This is compared, of course, to the tens of thousands of viruses on the PC... ;) As for sleeping, it's what I do as well. Keeps my uptime high. I'm on 32 days thus far :)
