thisispete
Hi, just playing around with Debian, as a change from my normal Redhat/Mandrake distros. The internet is all set up and running through the server. When i try to ping an outside address, or telnet or anything through a term, it cant connect. Is there any way or reason i would need to add proxy settings or gateway to the terminal settings. Shouldnt it get this stuff from Mozilla or netconf? pete. neowin_hipster
Can't ping? Well it uses all the information in the init scripts in your /etc/init.d folder. You might wanna do some reason on that. tlpd is the linux documentation project. there are also manals like in gentoo that help you out. edit: /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname are also files you might wanna look at. markwolfe Veteran Posted January 23, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 23, 2004 It may also help if you show us the response when you type /sbin/ifconfig so we can look for anything weird...
