I'm reading on twitter that there might be as many as 3 shooters with 1 "down". If so it's extremely coordinated and premeditated.

It at some sort of music concert/festival.

Or a shoot out with collateral damage?

I'm not sure what you mean.

You suggest this is a premeditated attack that is well organised.  Another possibility is either some sort of gang related thing or other escalated argument when guns are involved and people nearby are caught up in it.

It was at a country western music concert. Do gangs typical hang out around those?

Country and western music fans and guns do tend to go hand in hand.  Gangs, yeah probably not but all it takes is one shooter and then another "I'll take him down".

Point being that nothing is known or confirmed yet, so saying it's planned is a guess.

I'm reading reports of 20+ dead :(

Edit - To be honest the source is Piers Morgan so not sure how accurate. If it's true, very sad

Edit again - Confirmed

Why, if the shooter has an English name, is this not described as a terrorist attack?

Terrorism "the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims."

So until we know if his attack was based on political/idiological views, it's not "terrorism"

Except these days violent attacks tend to get branded as Terrorism until we know otherwise. Especially if the perpetrator has certain obvious characteristics.

Whatever this turns out to be however, it's a horrific attack by someone with problems. Yet again the US is waking up to the aftermath of such an event, but will this prompt anyone to actually do anything useful about the prevalence of such attacks? Will anyone with any actual clout suggest that just maybe there is no need for anyone to carry around an assault weapon?

I can't believe what woke up to this morning. :( Actually, I can totally believe it.

My initial angry thoughts...

Why wasn't all of the crowd armed? They could have returned a rain of hellfire back that could have left Mandalay Bay Casino in rumble within minutes.

The shooter must be white as it isn't being described as a terrorist attack and news people are already throwing out the mental illness angle.

Gun dealers must all be like I am going to be able to afford a two week Vegas vacation next month. $$$$$$$$$$

White American = "Lone wolf" obviously ;)

Can't be having one of your own citizens labelled as a terrorist, because it means you're not doing something right.

'cause of course if it's someone from another place then you've done everything right and these foreign people are just naturally born evil. /s
