PSA: TrendMicro Security/AV and Fall Creators Update KB4043961 BSOD

Recommended Posts

This is more or less for anyone searching Google. But I am running TrendMicro Officescan XG 12.0 domain wide, and the Fall Creators Update 16299.15 installed fine, except the cumulative update KB4043961 to take it to 16299.19 would install get to 30%, reboot then would produce a BSOD of PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA on ntoskrnl.

It would then reboot once more, BSOD again and revert back.

The culprit: OfficeScan

Apparently it isn't compatible yet, here is some info from TrendMicro with anticipated patch/service pack dates for their products - https://success.trendmicro.com/solution/1118555-trend-micro-business-endpoint-support-for-windows-10-fall-creators-update-rs3

Ok it seems i am not running the latest version of Trend Micro Internet Security ( have Version 11 ) you have to manually download Version 12 , hopefully that solves it for me

Have been told to boot into safe mode and disable trend before updating to version 12 back in normal mode

Well the KB installed with trend uninstalled but now it BSOD when trying to install Trend Internet Security - trying this hotfix now will advise if it works - https://esupport.trendmicro.com/en-us/home/pages/technical-support/1118532.aspx

Edit - well the hotfix failed to install , and trend still BSODS at 70% install , back on chat with their support .. :)

Yeah I think you are all going to have to wait on a proper patch from Trend per that URL in my post. So either don't upgrade to 1709 or remove AV and upgrade then wait.

They are just going to tell you the same thing, they made it clear on their support page - Trend Micro is currently working on the following solutions for compatibility on the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update:

Yeah that's just likely because the URL I posted is mostly commercial/business products. They still need to patch consumer products in the same manor.

I think they are going to be in a lot of hurt over the next 24 hours :)

Edit - thanks for the link reading the main thread that one pointed too https://en.community.trendmicro.com/tm_en/topics/trend-micro-installation-bluescreen-in-windows-10-fall-creators-update

Edit 2 - this was posted 2 hours ago - You can get the latest build compatible with RS3 from Technical Support. Please contact them if you want it asap.
We are working to replace the packages in our Download Centers within the next 24hrs.

Except if that was the case they didn't offer it to me :)
