welcome to last year, btw you are correct, but ESRB just don't give out ratings like that the owner "ID" has to provide full working game which will be shipped to the customer. Then ESRB will test with at least three people not related with the gaming industry. They will test the game and give there side of experience. Then they can and will give the appropriate rating.

Well, that's true, but it's also true that it really hasn't been rated yet. They could get in trouble if they say it already has a certain rading when it doesn't.

But honestly, after watching the trailer, think objectively about "How would it be rated?". Can you really think that something other than MA can be gave?

OMFG, just saw that, doom3 = total pwnage.. no doubt..

Altho it reminds me WAY TOO MUCH of the other dooms..*sigh*, oh well will still rock :).

Don't you know?...*sigh* I guess I have to tell you:

Carmack stated that DOOM 3 is actually a Retelling of the First DOOM!!!!

he said it in interviews...yada yada...

Actually I wish they would make it AO....because apparentlly parents are too stupid to understand that Mature(M) is not meant for kids....and this game will obvouslly be a heated controversy down the line....why else would they have spaced the time from the Columbine incident, how many years has it been?...and it would make retaliers keep from giving them to kids without backlash....even if it gets an M rating, people are still going to bitch about it being "DOOM-that game that creates killers"...It's sad that it will be the talk about alot of controversy(and beleive you me, the Christian groups will problablly be instituting possible boycotting/pickiting stores when it hits--because of demons/satan).

But with an AO rating, that would most understandiblly cause either a lower sale, or not....it depends who buys the games....if more people who buy them are adults/18+ then thats fine....but if it gets in a kids hand, It will not be the developer/publisher's fault, it will be the store/parents fault for letting it fall into the wrong hands.

Its goping to awsome to see doom 3 out in the market , I agree too that Doom 3 is going to ruffle feathers but WOW its going to blow minds when people see it running on some bad-ass systems . It's going to sell well.

Even if they did put a stupid AO rating on it, kids would just get their parents to buy it for them, whats the point? Ive never been stopped at hmv for buying an 18 video, the shops dont care either.
