there ya go ..

http://www.ximian.com/products/desktop/download.html

too bad it doesnt work in gentoo. :(

offtopic: I am a GoboLinux user now !! :) .. Portage+Gobo's file structure. Thats the future of Linux !!

Ximian does work on Gentoo. If you search the Gentoo forums, you can find a guide to install it. It isn't native support of course, but with a few modifications, you can get it working. :)

What do each of those do excatly? Also, does linux support mp3 mpeg wav ect ect? I got Windows XP too i am just curius(damn spelling...) if linux does also.

RedHat 9 by default does NOT support the MP3 format, like code_monkey stated earlier you will need to get the xmms-mp3 package and install it :)

Hmmm... If you are new to Linux, and want to see what it can do, I would recommend downloading Knoppix and giving it a spin.

It is what's called a "LiveCD", meaning that it can runn off of your CD-ROM (and some RAM) when you boot from it on a PC.

Look at what it can do, and then imagine it running faster, and installing all of these other options listed here, and you will get an idea of how fun and useful Linux can be!

OpenOffice 1.1, if it doesn't already come with RedHat 9. Cinepaint for Linux. Cinepaint is similar to GIMP. It is also free and has contributions from companies like ILM. LimeWire for Linux. Good PTP client, installs and works great with Linux. Since Apple doesn't support Linux with ITunes, well use Limewire. So-much for 99 cent songs. Linux users have to get them for free I guess. Opera 7 for Linux, great multiplatform web browser. AIM and Yahoo Messenger for Linux. To complement GAIM. These are just some of the things that are available for Linux, and that are good to have for your RedHat 9. If I think of more I'll let you know.

i wanna get portage to run on MDK...THAT would be sweet.

No, it wouldn't. Mandrake can't take the genius that is portage. The only thing that would benefit from portage in my humble opinion would be a BSD. That would push me right over to FreeBSD without a doubt.

You can make Slackware 9.1, with Dropline Gnome look just like RedHat 9 :) , in every way, since their is a Bluecurve theme, in Gnome 2.4. And have a more up to date distro.
