NeoMayhem
Unlike some other OSs, if you use the built in help it tells you all about this ;)

Steve
Don't forget Panther equipped Mac's have Folder Actions. Attach a script to one of them, and it does the job of conversion on the fly, it's really nice...
chris_rv
I've attached the Screen Capture shortcuts. Also, you can capture a particular window instead of a selection. First use the shortcut for ?Capture Selection to File?, then when the cross-hair cursor appears press the spacebar. Doing so changes the cross-hair to a camera cursor which you then use to click on window. The screen capture is saved to a file named picture x.pdf on your desktop. I use a ?Convert - PDF to JPG? script to quickly convert formats.

Steve
I have GOT to start looking into that stuff. Really neat. It suddenly occured to me today to apply the image convert script to the desktop folder. i only have PDF's on there, that are to be converted to jpg. This could be handy ... or annoying, we'll see... :)
