Android 8.0 Oreo beta coming to the OnePlus 5 and 5T by year's end

Today, OnePlus announced its latest handset, the OnePlus 5T. While this was exciting news in itself, during the launch event, the firm also announced some updates that would be arriving on its devices in the coming months.

OnePlus 5 users will be happy to know that an Android 8.0 Oreo beta will be available to them later this month. If you don't feel like going the beta route, you can always wait for the official release, which is slated to arrive sometime in early 2018.

While it was a bit of disappointment that the OnePlus 5T didn't arrive with Oreo out of the box, the company is making the beta for Android 8.0 available in late December. The team expressed that it likes to test things out first, rather than offer an OS that might be riddled with bugs and other issues. It did not state when a final version would be available to the public.

All in all, this is pretty good news for OnePlus owners, as they will be able to use Android 8.0 on their handsets prior to the end of the year. If interested in purchasing the OnePlus 5T, you'll have to wait until November 21, when it will be made available for a starting price of $499.
