CoolCatBad
I was about to ditch my MozJF Firebird and just wait for the official 0.8 when I decided to try the scragz build. Very impressive. 0 frease
I am the unfortunate one in the family who is stuck with a P2. Scragz doesn't care for a P2 at all, so I have no luck in trying out his build :(
0 Pink Floyd Veteran Posted January 24, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 24, 2004 Scragz makes same built as aebrahim did in the past. Unfortunatly, aebrahim quit doing built every day or every 2 days. this is the same builts compiled in .NET VERY fast apply on SSE and SSE2, so can accomodate most ppl of these days

Scragz doesn't care for a P2 at all, so I have no luck in trying out his build :( I don't think there is much that can be done as far as optimizing for a P2. The default builds, compiled with no specific processor optimizations, would be the same as G6 (optimizes code for the Intel Pentium Pro, Pentium II, Pentium III, and Pentium 4 processors). 0 Kasteo
With several test results I've seen from varity systems so far, it seem that optimized build will run faster only on the newer and faster CPU. To my conclusion, if you are using CPU slower than Pentium III 650MHz then better stick with non-optimized build(official). It will run faster than using Optimized one. 0 Justin03248
There's a firebird compiled in .net? I'd like to try that out. Anyone know the link?

0 scragz
i did speed tests.. and the 0.8.0+ offical trunk as of 2004-01-20 is faster for me My tests showed a 10 - 20% improvement in page rendering time with optimized builds. DHTML/JS tests were inconclusive.
0 bangbang023 Veteran Posted January 25, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 25, 2004 I posted about his builds in the backpage news thread about Firebird 0.8. Good to see private nightlies are catching on.
0 gflores
What's the cursor bug? I think I'll wait for the official .8 Firebird, I hope it's right around the corner...
0 shifts
V impressed with the new build. Does appear flaky on websites re:loading time but Im sure that its more of my connection than anything else. Now if Firebird had a back option just like operas Id convert straight away

0 lardiop Veteran Posted January 25, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 25, 2004 Scragz builds rock... :D If you havent tried 'em, its really worth a go Sad to see aebrahim give up optimizing. Anyone know why scragz is goin' off the trunk and not off the branch for his .8+ builds? (Maybe even asking scragz himself here?)
0 bangbang023 Veteran Posted January 25, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 25, 2004 What's the cursor bug? I think I'll wait for the official .8 Firebird, I hope it's right around the corner... Sometimes if you middle click to do universal scrolling, the cicular cursor will stay imprinted in Firebird even if you chaneg the web page. Closing it and restarting fixes it. It's a rare bug. 0 scragz
Anyone know why scragz is goin' off the trunk and not off the branch for his .8+ builds? (Maybe even asking scragz himself here?) Popular demand, nothing much was going on with the branch, and for a time there weren't any official trunk nightlies available. I will be making some 0.8 release builds when the time comes. Oh, and new builds (2004.01.26) are compiling right now.
