Friggin Cinder Block Furniture!!!!!

I just discovered Cinder Blocks are incredible!!!! Grills, TV stands etc... these blocks can be purchased for about $1 each at home depot or lowes (hardware etc).. at least in my area I've noticed they are very cheap.

So I'm going to dorm in the garage for about a year (maybe less) so rather than buy conventional furniture from Big Lots or Kmart ($100 for a TV stand, $60 for a decent shelf, $90 or drawers etc... I'd like to make everything out of these blocks, some pipe and wooden planks (which I could ratchet 3 together and glue, then stain with materials I already have)... and build some cool things like these:

TV stand and general purpose shelf:

Bed: (already have my mattress)

Another shelf, which I could put plastic bins (with tops) for clothing:

Grill for the back yard for fun cooking:

My concern though would be spiders, especially black widows as I live in the California high desert area.  I haven't really encountered them in the winter, more so during the summer.  The garage was recently finished and the door has thresholds and seals, but I can't be sure that EVERYTHING is sealed and maybe some spiderlings can eventually get in.  Is there a deterrent to keep them away from my cinder blocks if they did get in?  I noticed that after glazing the dog house, they didn't bother making webs in there anymore, so is there something I can do for my blocks?  What do you think?

I actually really dig the look! Love industrial-style interiors.

I was wondering about the Grill. Not sure if anyone saw the Simpsons episode where Homer gets a Hive Grill with honeycomb shaped mesh.. is this usable for a grill?  Safe?  Or should I stick to expanded sheet metal (diamonds).

I don't want my house to look like an old wreck with 4 stolen tires.

Hard pass.
