It was reported about a week ago that Pixel 2 owners who ordered their device from Google were unable to unlock its bootloader. This was a bit curious, as one of the perks of ordering a Google handset with an unlockable bootloader is that, if you are curious, you can tinker with the software portion of the device without issue. Luckily, the problem seems to have now been resolved.
Before you perform the fix, you'll want to backup any information that is important to you as you will be required to factory reset the device. Once you have everything you want backed up, you'll need to just factory reset the hardware and make sure that it is connected to an internet source when proceeding through the setup process. If all goes accordingly, the "OEM unlocking" option should be available.
Google has not had a smooth ride with the release of either of its recent handsets, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. While the Pixel 2 XL is the one plagued with more issues, this kind of release does not instill confidence in the brand, which could make it an uphill battle for the firm in the future.
