Remember, the original mouse WAS the Macintosh mouse, and people were very confused by it even though it only had one button. Just think if it had two. :o

I don't defend it because I am dumb, simply because I rarely need a second button, its nice.

I'm not saying today people are dumb. But back then, it was a totally new concept. It's kinda been an Apple trademark type of thing ever since.

Can you use a bluetooth keyboard / mouse to wake up a sleeping Powerbook with its screen folded down (ie, with an external monitor connected)?

This has been the only thing holding me back from getting a bluetooth input set. I need to have an external monitor to hook my PB into, to use it as desktop replacement, but it'd be nice to just be able to set it down on the desk and boot it up straight away without having to hook in a keyboard and a mouse :)

Out of those two, the Apple mouse looks nicer but yeah, one button is kind of crippled in my view. Assigning Expos? to a mouse button is just one of the ways a multi-button mouse can make life easier:))

Does OS X recognise all the buttons on the Logitech without using the Logitech drivers? I hate Logitech drivers :xx

Yes, it does. Just to be safe, it recognizes up to 16 buttons on any mouse, and you can tell it to combine the button with Command, Shift, Option and Control to add even more choices. :p

*Note: This is only for Expos? as far as I'm aware. You might need the Logitech software to assign buttons to things that aren't Expos?.

You don't lose the ability to use the charging station.

What?!?

One the one hand you're saying to bypass the base station and just make it connect straight to the built in BT on your Mac:

I don't want to have a mouse taking up a port anymore if I'm gonna go wireless.

But you're still gonna have the base station sat around for charging?

I know, I have a MX700. So you're gonna plug the charging station into the wall but not into the Mac? And connect the MX900 via built in BT? Weird :s

Why is that weird?

You move around with your notebook + MX900 (say at work or school). So you just use you mouse everywhere you want without needing the Logitech Bluetooth receiver. It's way easier to just have a notebook + mouse to carry around then notebook + mouse + bluetooth receiver. When you get home you drop the MX900 in the craddle and next day you're ready to go again.

I find this very convenient actually.
