wd40
Ok I know how to take screenshots on a MAC OS X using Grab but my problem is that when I use Grab, it puts the window I want to get a screenshot of in the "background" and it's grayed out. How can I grab a screenshot of a "active" color window?

This is a fresh install with no changes also. command is the same as control right?

Elliott
Shift+Command+3 will make a PDF of your whole screen and put it on your desktop. Shift+Command+4 will allow you to make a selection and then it'll put a PDF of that selection on your desktop Shift+Command+4 and then Space will allow you to choose a window, and then it'll take a screenshot of that window alone (if you're using Panther), even if it has a window in front of it. wd40
Those commands aren't working... I have a cool app that will do it for me now though that works 100% better. ScreenShotPlus
the evn show
Hold down CMD (the one that has the "clover leaf" and the hollow apple on it - beside the space bar on the left), while still holding CMD, press and hold down shift - under caps lock on the left. Keep holding those two keys down and press 3. look on the desktop: be amazed as "Picture 1.pdf" appears -- These are standard combinations that have been in os x for years, are you sure you're getting them right? Southern Patriot
-- These are standard combinations that have been in os x for years, are you sure you're getting them right? Considering WD40's comment : command is the same as control right? I'd say that he is hitting the wrong key.

itsnotabigtruck
The Command key has an Apple logo and a little curly icon. The Control key says "control". You need to press the Command key, not the Control key.
