Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday that North Korea wants direct talks with the United States to seek guarantees on its security from Washington, Russian news agencies reported.

Lavrov said he had passed on Pyongyang’s desire for direct talks to U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson when the two men met on the sidelines of a conference in Vienna on Thursday, the agencies reported.

“We know that North Korea wants above all to talk to the United States about guarantees for its security. We are ready to support that, we are ready to take part in facilitating such negotiations,” Interfax news agency quoted Lavrov as saying.

“Our American colleagues, (including) Rex Tillerson, have heard this.”

No talking will happen without a mediator.  Even then, it is questionable as Trump is pretty thick headed on the subject.

And according to this, they are talking/open to it as well.  But again, to think headed to do it.

US talking to North Korea 'directly,' Rex Tillerson says

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, speaking off-camera with reporters during his trip to China's capital, acknowledged that the administration is speaking to North Korea "directly, through our own channels."

"We have lines of communication to Pyongyang. We're not in a dark situation, a blackout," he said from the residence of the U.S. ambassador in Beijing. "We can talk to them. We do talk to them."

But talking is useless if it is not productive and everyone is hell bent on their own ideas/views and cannot see a path for compromise/resolution.

No, the nukes need to stay away.  What caused the mess to begin with.  Wish all countries would destroy them.  Where is Superman when you need him.   (look up movie references if confused on that comment  ;)  )

No point, the guy you're replying to think he's edgy, when actually, he's not, and just wants to air his xenophobia.

Yeah, that'll help. It's easy to say crap like that when you risk nothing, making such a dumbass comment.

Obviously you know absolutely nothing and have learned nothing from history regarding nuclear escalation. Look up the Cuban Missile Crisis if you need reference material. And not the X-Men version.

Lets go full blown nuclear war. If nk decide they are going to launch, then what?

Someone retaliates... Guess what else genius, the fallout and radiation will cross international borders, and those countries affected then will demand recompense, unless they decide they are going to launch in retaliation to your retaliation... More nuclear fallout, more countries launch. And so on, everybody loses because no matter who wins, the planet would be too irradiated to sustain human life for very long time, and just like EVERYBODY else, and their families and friends, yours will suffer losses alongside.
