wicker_man
Windows - maybe once a year because of major hardware upgrade, as I don't think MS recommends to reformat after each SP :)...just can't be bothered, I use Windoze smartly and with 2-3 utilities it can be kept running for quite a while. Mac - never yet (purchased it last summer.
lupich
Roffle, I format every week. Sometimes twice each day. after a format I always enjoy messing around with the configuration to figure new stuff out. But if I screw it up I have to format again. I just really really love the feeling of a nice clean windowsy thing. Good news though, Im trying to stop Ive gone 1 month so far. Im thinking of breaking it up into 2 month periods! ;)

aweir
I have a host of system maintenance programs. Every once in a while I will scan the hard drive for errors, junk files, and defragment the drive and registry. As well as run a comprehensive virus/spyware scan on occasion. I use System Mechanic and Advanced System Optimizer to keep the computer tidy. This is better than simply reformatting and losing all my 50+ programs and settings. and user accounts. I only do a format when I have a non-fixable problem.
illicit
I would say I reformat my computer usually every 2-6 months or whenever there is a problem.

Quillz
I usually do it only when necessary, but lately, that's been occuring every 3-6 months.
techbeck
I dont format unless there is something wrong I cannot fix. Which means I format maybe once a year. I had a few computers I test software on as to not effect my main system. I like to test things for problems before i impliment them.
McoreD
Voted: Whenever it needs it Haven't formated since September 28th, 2005, since started using Symantec LiveState Recovery 3.0 to backup/restore System Images.
