Rogue3
I'm trying to get it to where the folders in my quickstart menu drop down to reveal the contents instead of opening the folder. Is that possible? Here is a link to a desktop that I saw do this... http://www.thekiwi.com/images/desktop9.JPG Can someone help me out here? Kokolores
Truelaunchbar can do that. http://www.truelaunchbar.com I use it myself and thus got rid of that stupid statbutton.
Rogue3
That looks like a handy utility that I will try out. Do you know if it supports use in other toolbars as well? I guess my first post was misworded a little, but what I want is for the expanded menus to appear in my other toolbars like in the screenshot, not necessarily the quicklaunch menu. Kokolores
So you want to create some more toolbars with that extrafeature? No problem. TLB can do that. You can add as many true launch bars as you want. Ans you can of course keep the traditional quick launch bar if you want.
skitz.com
You can do that without the aid of 3rd party programs. 1. Make a folder. Name it whatever you want (ie, Office) 2. Put it on the toolbar. 3. You must have "Show Title" checked. 4. Move it all the way to the left so you get that arrow thing. 5. Done. You now have an expandable menu. It is also possible to make this more complex by putting more folders in the original toolbar folder To change the icon, right click on the icon> properties > customize > towards the bottom there's a thing that says "Change Icon". Then you have a selection of icons and blah blah blah
arhra
You can also use the links bar to do what you want - place folders containing whatever shortcuts you want in there, and when you click on them, they will open up as menus rather than opening the folder in explorer. You can force this behaviour in the quicklaunch or other toolbars by holding ctrl down when you click on a folder. note - they have to be actual folders, not shortcuts pointing to folders, although if you want to make a menu of another folder on your system, you can use "folder shortcuts*," which can be created by making a shortcut to a folder in the programs section of the start menu. I use teh links bar and folder shortcuts to give me a cascading menu of My Computer, and my %userprofile% folder, plus menus of the control panel and admin tools. I also have a toolbar along the bottom of my screen with folder shortcuts to various places, so that i can either open the folders with a single click, or get a menu to quickly navigate to a subfolder with a ctrl click. see this screenshot for an example of my links menus (warning, 1600x1200 .png ~480kb) * which are NOT the same as shortcuts to folders, they're just confusingly named ;)
Rogue3
Thanks for all the tips guys. I think Kokolores hit it on the head. I messed around a bit with TrueLaunchBar and it is pretty sweet. I'll mess with it more on XP when I get home. It adds some very nice features to the toolbars!
