Steven P. Administrators Posted January 26, 2004 Administrators Share Posted January 26, 2004 Neowin has never been so stable since we started 3 years and 3 months ago despite the fact we have more users than ever before :) hope that answers your question. Tim Dorr Veteran Posted January 26, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 26, 2004 SM is quality. They're actually a subsidary of ThePlanet which is a high-level hosting company. So, you get the benefit of their high-level support on your servers. They really do have some of the best options. I'd go with ServerMatrix ;)

Redmak Administrators Posted January 28, 2004 Administrators Share Posted January 28, 2004 Extra ram helps a lot (more than the difference between 2.0 and 2.4 GHz)
Marshalus Veteran Posted January 28, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 28, 2004 will a see a great speed improvement adding 512mb ram? how much does memory matter? It depends on what you're doing with the sever. If you're just serving up plain HTML 512 is more than fine. If you are going to be running a gaming server, a server with a lot of scripts running in the background, or using a lot of databases then you'll want to go with 1GB. It will effect your page load speeds a LOT. The extra MHz boost is really only helpful when compiling programs, from what I've found. I have a 1.7Ghz Celeron because pretty much all I do is use the server for storing files, images, and HTML.

Tim Dorr Veteran Posted January 29, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 29, 2004 Neither, unless you have a scripted site to back it up. In which case, get the ram.
