Final Cut

Recommended Posts

I am using Final Cut express 2 and I have an ACC music file I need to use. Final Cut won't read ACC so I converted it to MP3 but the audio sounds terrible! there's this popping, clipping sound in the audio. Any one know how I could fix this?

P.S. The ACC file and the MP3 file both sound great when there in itunes but in Final Cut it's awful

Do I convert the ACC to AIFF or the MP3 to AIFF? I don't think Final cut reads AIFF

Well, AIFF is Apple's version of a WAV file, so yeah, Final Cut will read it. Also, you will want to stay as close to the originally encoded file as possible, preferably the original mastered digital copy, like off of a professionally pressed audio CD, and not a compressed format. But in your case, if you only have the AAC file, convert from THAT file to whatever format you would like, not the MP3 -- every time you recompress that file it will degrade in quality. If you for some reason can't import an AIFF file, then you could export the AAC file to a QuickTime .mov file with only audio... but you may need QT Pro for that...

(I am assuming when you say ACC you really mean AAC, the audio layer of MPEG4, and the format iTunes uses, I don't know what ACC is...)
