I'm sure I'll check it out, at least the first few episodes. I do enjoy Tom Clancy and the Ryanverse. Although I'm not sure about John Krasinski as Jack? Maybe I'm thinking of his performance in 13 Hours where he was a hardened soldier though.

I'm not convinced by the guy they have playing Jack but all in all it looks like it has potential to be good. Certainly better than the last Jack Ryan movie at any rate. I don't even remember what that one is called, that's how good it was.

Jesus, they're going to have Jim in it? Is he going to put the baddies' guns in jello?

I'll have to watch "13 Hours" to see if I'll buy him in this role.  I think that's about his only action role so far.

Clancy was one hell of a writer! I hope that this at least comes close to meeting his books, I've read them all many times over!

I'll check this out for sure, big TC fan, but god damn ubisoft, where is my splinter cell? Or for that matter why don't they make a splinter cell tv series?

I have on my list but I need to be honest, John Krasinski will always be Jim Halpert and I think I'm going to struggle with him being Jack Ryan. I think back to all the original Clancy novels and Krasinski is not the face I see. That said, I never saw Baldwin or Afflect (and don't get me started on Harrison Ford...) either.

There is a reason: this is based on Jack's son (Jack Ryan, Junior) a spin-off, literally, of the senior Ryan.  There is a series of novels based on this character (starting with "The Teeth Of The Tiiger") that was, in fact, completed by Clancy before his death..  The series has since migrated to USA after an Amazon stint (along with a new name: "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit"; the junior Ryan was covered as a stock analyst (which was the case in "Tiger" as well).  If you want to follow along with the books, the entire series is in e-book format for Kindles via Amazon - I have "Tiger" in hardback on my shelf, along with most of the books featuring the original Ryan; I had better, he is another of the locals that made good - Clancy,  that is).

I think they're working on a new SC game but don't have anything to show.

Though honestly, where do you go from Blacklist?  That game was pretty badass but pretty much covered everything.

I liked blacklist as well but they need to reintroduce elements from chaos theory back into the game. Stuff like the lock picking mini game or the sound level meter etc. If that stuff is too much for the new generation of twitch shooter ADD gamers to handle them at least make them part of some hard mode setting for us stealth loving junkies.

Oof, over a year old. Having said that I would watch it, it's taken me until yesterday to get started. I managed to go through the whole first season, although I ended up dozing off halfway through episode 7 so I'll have to rewatch the last two.

The only bit I'm not sure I understood was a drone pilot and his story. I mean I get that they wanted to highlight that war is hell in any capacity but it seemed to have nothing to do with the rest of the series other than that brief moment where he disobeys an order and shoots at Hanin's attacker.

Anyways, I've been enjoying it. I'll move on to season 2 after watching the first season of The Expanse.

I think the drone pilot angle was just to show us how much war has changed per se, and that while it may seem like drone pilots sitting on the other side of the world don't feel anything when killing people, that's probably not the case.    Also how something that probably seems like it has little impact might have big ramifications.  Because he didn't follow orders and saved the wife and her daughter, that had a butterfly effect which helped them at the end.
