evan
Hi, I just finished the installation of SuSE 9.0 Pro, but I found that I cannot connect to the Internet (however, I can browse within the LAN) I don't know why, the default setting detected by SuSE is LAN obtainng IP by DHCP, and that is exactly the right setting I used in Windows. Is there anything I can do with this. Please help me. thank you.

If so, then there may be proxy settings that you are lacking in your SUSE install...
evan
I posted this under windows xp, and actually didn't set up much things --- just enter the MAC address, and let the machine automatically detect the LAN settings. So, I am not little bit puzzled about what I should do in Linux.
markwolfe Veteran Posted January 26, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 26, 2004 Well, if you are on a corporate network, you are probably using a proxy to access the internet. In Windows, this is under your IE Options somewhere...

I am in the campus LAN, and I am not sure I am using some kind of proxy to access the internet. one of my flat mates got connection under rh 9, and he just let the system to use DHCP to obtain the ip address etc. I am not sure how should I set it up in SuSE.
