File Sharing

Recommended Posts

I have an ibook running panther hooked up wirelessly though my network. When I first got it setup I had file sharing on and everything was great I turned on WPA and I started having problems. I could see my windows xp machine and the shared folder but I couldn't see the file in the folder. I forgot about it thinking security was more important but today I installed a clean instal of XP and for a few hours I could see the drive, shared folder, and the file. I realized that it wasn't WPA just now it turned off for now reason. I have the same problem as before. I can see the drive, and folder but not the file in the folder. Sometimes I can't even see the drive. Anyone know what is wrong? Please

Well, interestingly enough, Apple released an update to the AirPort software just now:

This software update provides improved AirPort wireless networking software, and is recommended for all users with an AirPort Extreme and AirPort enabled computer or an AirPort Extreme base station.

New AirPort Extreme Features

This software provides support for the Wi-Fi Protected Access? (WPA) specification for the AirPort Extreme base station and AirPort Extreme and AirPort clients. Please see AirPort Help for more information on WPA. Also included in this release is v5.3 of the AirPort Extreme base station firmware. Instructions for updating the base station firmware can also be found in AirPort Help.

The AirPort Extreme base station and AirPort Extreme client are Wi-Fi Certified? for 802.11b and 802.11g interoperability.
