SirEvan
I've been keeping an inventory sheet of the parts that go into my file server, and one of the fields I record is MFG date. For the dimms I have, I'm having trouble determining from the asset/date code when they were made.. Handle 0x0026, DMI type 17, 40 bytes Memory Device Array Handle: 0x0022 Error Information Handle: Not Provided Total Width: 72 bits Data Width: 64 bits Size: 16384 MB Form Factor: DIMM Set: None Locator: DIMMA2 Bank Locator: P0_Node0_Channel0_Dimm1 Type: DDR4 Type Detail: Synchronous Speed: 2133 MT/s Manufacturer: Hynix Semiconductor Serial Number: 80B18971 Asset Tag: (Date:15/36) Part Number: HMA42GR7MFR4N-TF Rank: 2 Configured Clock Speed: 1866 MT/s Minimum Voltage: Unknown Maximum Voltage: Unknown Configured Voltage: 0.003 V For the above, I can probably guess from the asset tag, that the DIMM was MFG in the 36th week of 2015. (15/36) However, I have another DIMM with the following info Handle 0x0028, DMI type 17, 40 bytes Memory Device Array Handle: 0x0022 Error Information Handle: Not Provided Total Width: 72 bits Data Width: 64 bits Size: 8192 MB Form Factor: DIMM Set: None Locator: DIMMB1 Bank Locator: P0_Node0_Channel1_Dimm0 Type: DDR4 Type Detail: Synchronous Speed: 2133 MT/s Manufacturer: Hynix Semiconductor Serial Number: 3C1F49FA Asset Tag: (Date:17/76) Part Number: HMA41GR7MFR4N-TFTD Rank: 1 Configured Clock Speed: 1866 MT/s Minimum Voltage: Unknown Maximum Voltage: Unknown Configured Voltage: 0.003 V This throws things out the window, since there are only 52 weeks in a year...how could it be 76th week of 2017? Could this be days? (76th day of 2017?) I've searched SK Hynix's site, as well as google for SK Hynix date codes, but am coming up short. TIA! xendrome
Check the physical stickers on the DIMMs?
SirEvan
10 minutes ago, xendrome said: Check the physical stickers on the DIMMs? That would require powering down the file server, sliding it out of the rack and opening it up to check Seeing as how knowing the date isn't super necessary, would rather find out via date codes if possible Plus I think the stickers (if i recall) only had the part/model numbers on them.
