aaron901
if you have your eyes on the iBook, i reckon you should go with the 12" model because the resolution of the 14" is the same (1024x768).

Tim Dorr Veteran Posted January 28, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 28, 2004 Yes, it can run Windows programs, but it's nowhere near as fast. It's just for a last-ditch effort kind of thing, you're better off finding an OSX equivalent of your programs, which you will find on macupdate.com or versiontracker.com. Don't worry, despite what people say, I've found an equivalent or better on OSX for every windows program I use regularly. In fact, I've found a lot on OSX that I havent found on PC. BTW, I've got a fully loaded iBook to sell if you're interested ;)

mihir
Stretch and buy a 12" Powerbook. Sorry if I'm furthering your confusion.
neowin_hipster
I'm busy deciding between ibook and powerbook and all that. 14" ibook is roughyl same price as a 12" powerbook. I got 1 question, i dun wanna shell out extra for airpot extreme, all i need is a simple 802.11b. Any way around that? go to apple.com and check out the student discounts. It'll save you a few hundred.

Thanks again for the help With the iBook G4 an Airport Extreme card and just about any wireless 802.11b or 802.11g router or access point (I would highly recommend the Airport Extreme base station). Oh, and get the 12". It seems like a great deal. Rocks, I believe he has a thread about it, and it's an iBook G3.

The battery life is amazing on the iBook, and it may be a bit warm at most. The 12" PowerBook used to heat up quickly. I think they fixed that problem, but the battery life still isn't as good as the iBook's.

Elliott
I think you need Toast to burn a VCD, but you can use iMovie to edit the movie.
