wayne
Current system - 2 boxes - both W98 - cable to main box - main box to hub - hub to 2nd box. My friends system - cable to hub - hub to 2 boxes. My dilema ! On Monday I have a new box coming with fresh install of XP - should I continue with server method or go to my friends p2p system - being as I`m starting from scratch on the new box. Money is not an object as I already have the hub and enough NIC cards to do it either way. Other than my main box must be on for the other boxes to use the internet - are there any other reasons to go one way or the other?
mtgriffith
I have a router which is also a 4 port switch and dhcp server. I cabled my house with cat5e cable. I hook my computer and my wife's laptop up to the router. That works best for me.

That is the main disadvantage of plugging a modem directly into a server and not through a hub. If you've already bought the hub, I'd plug the modem into that. ;)
