Motherboard shipments always delayed for me? conspiracy!

This is just odd... I've been replacing a few systems, and I've ordered 4 motherboards now at various times...

 

every time I ship it 2nd day delivery...

 

not one of them has came 2nd day...

 

everything else does (CPU/Memory/PSU/etc)

 

But for some reason they always ship the motherboard (amazon) separately (all parts shipped and sold by amazon).

 

This is where it gets odd, every time on the day its scheduled for delivery... mysteriously the package "vanishes" then reappears in Erlanger, KY US

 

odd eh?... then sits there for two days then moves again.

 

I just ordered another motherboard monday, I needed it today and boom just like clockwork... it doesn't show up on time... and the current location was unknown (amazon just lists it as a time and a blank field for the town its in)... ask them once again what happened and boom again... it suddenly shows up in Erlanger, KY

 

to make this even more odd.. the last motherboard I ordered I definitely noticed that it was opened before I got it... and these should be brand new... the first couple I didn't really pay attention to... just waiting to see how this one shows up now ?

 

just thought this was very odd and had to share it...

Try calling Amazon and telling them this? They might be able to refund you some money...

yeah, amazon used to help with stuff like that but lately it's pretty much a "sorry for your inconvenience" and a get it will be here on this date and get lost... they used to guarantee delivery dates and give you $5 credits if not met, I think they stopped that at least a year ago now... now everything is "Estimated delivery"

Ironically the only items I have this issue with have this statement on the website page for them

 

"What you need to know – This product has a serial number that uniquely identifies the item. When your order ships, Amazon will scan the serial number and add it to the history of the order. Should the item go missing before it arrives, Amazon will also register the serial number with Recipero’s AssetWatch, to prevent fraudulent use or resale of the item. There is no action required from you and the serial number will only be used to prevent fraudulent activity associated with the missing item."

Just sounds like business as usual with Amazon for me. Their 2 day shipping has gone downhill for me. Sure it comes in 2 days after they ship it but they ship it on day 3.

they shipped it the day I ordered but somehow gets lost in the middle every time

That is a bit odd.  Are the motherboards coming from a different warehouse location?  For example and completely arbitrary, you are getting the CPU, RAM, etc., from Austin but the motherboard is coming from Irvin?  Only thing I can think of ... or as others have suggested maybe the Amazon sends it to their NSA specialist and has it "tagged" before shipping.

every motherboard I've ordered came from Sacramento, CA... the other parts all say "Shipment arrived at Amazon facility Pittsburgh, PENNSYLVANIA US"

 

This motherboard is now scheduled for delivery Friday May 18th, just like all the others... 2 day shipping means take a whole business week ha...

Erlanger, Kentucky seems to operate as a logistics hub, with A J Weigand, BelFlex, Conduent, DHL, Fedex, Greentree Logistics,  Hornady Transportation, Mesilla Valley Transportation, Nussbaum, Pacific Logistics, PI&I, RWI Transportation, Southern Pride Trucking, Southern Refrigerated Transport, TMC Transportation, Total Transportation, TruLine Drivers, UPS, USA Truck, U.S. Xpress, and Wayfair being a few of the companies currently hiring in this town which has a population of about 18,800 (as of 2016).

If you are noticing a pattern here (which it kind sounds like you have) I would suggest that you reach out to customer service and explain this to them, now there's a good chance that nothing will get done, but if from what it sounds like, all the motherboards are shipped from the same FC in California, then this is something that they need to be made aware of. Barring any other response, you could always email Jeff Bezos at jeff@amazon.com and outline everything that you are experiencing here.

Also let me explain the basics of how your order gets together. You place the order online, and the system uses an algorithm to determine where you are (Geo location) and then what FC has the item that you requested that is the closest location to you. Second step is the order is received by the FC and the order picker picks the order and then sends it to the packing department, packing takes the item and scans it and is then told what size box to use, once the item is in the box it is sent down the line where it gets SLAMed which is where it applies the shipping label, the package then continues down the line to the ship dock, where the package is sorted to the location/carrier. Now in some situations the package gets sent to the sort center where it gets sorted to the location (city,state) as well as what carrier is taking it. The only time that the item(s) are actually seen are in steps 2 and 3, and though it is unlikely that the items are being taken (this because all Amazon warehouses have very sensitive metal detectors), it is a possibility, most likely what is happening is that the specific item that you are ordering is either back ordered (you will see the message online that this item is expected to ship by X) or none of the other centers have the item except for the one in California (I do not know how the inventory is split among the FC's). I would suggest that when you get the motherboard, if you notice that it is has been opened or damaged, take a picture of it and call Amazon on it. I'm sure you are aware of this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/contact-us choose the call me option, I have found that you get better response via the phone then you would via the chat option.

Also I just re-read what you have posted and you are saying that the item ships the same or next day. That is where things get misleading from Amazon, the item 'ships' when the package has been loaded into the truck, but these trucks may not leave right away, you understand that the trailers are 53' long and ~77 in tall, so they can load allot of packages into the trailer.

well, the last one that came wasn't shrink wrapped or security sealed or anything it was an ASUS board... so who knows if anyone played with it our if it was really a brand new board (I assume ASUS boards are all sent out this way?)

 

but just the standard we will look into it, here's a $5 credit for your troubles.....
